EISENHOWER, Dwight D.(1890-1969). 34th President of the United States (1953-1961), formerly Supreme Allied Commander in Europe during World War II and head of NATO forces after the war. Typed Letter Signed “Dwight D. Eisenhower” as President, 1p. quarto, on “The White House” stationary, December 2, 1957, addressed to Henry B. Cabot, President, The Board of Trustees, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and reads “Mrs. Eisenhower and I deeply appreicate your cordial invitation, extended on behalf of the members and the conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, to attend the concert to be given in Washington on December twelfth. We are most regretful that we cannot be present on what will be, I know, a most interesting and enjoyable occassion. To you, to Mr. Munch and the members of the Orchestra, our warm thanks for your thought of us...” Some smudging of the signature, else about VG.
