Brodhead, Daniel, (1736-1809) was commissioned as an officer of the 8th Pennsylvania Regiment of colonial troops with the rank of lieutenant colonel. His first action came at the Battle of Long Island, where he was recognized by George Washington for his bravery and initiative. Later commanded at Fort Pitt in 1780, and after the war, 1789, was appointed the first Surveyor General of Pennsylvania. Document Signed, Land Survey, with schematic, 8" x 12," of 409 acres in Northampton County (Pa.), first surveyed in 1787, this being a true copy dated October 12, 1796 and signed by "Daniel Brodhead, S.G.,"
