A great group of twelve (12) ante-bellum and war-date plantation/slave related documents for running the Plantation of Jeremiah Henry of Anson County, North Carolina. Included in the lot are six (6) receipts for bales of cotton sold, slave hire (canceled) for "negro girl named Martha" while providing for her "three suits of good clothes, one hat, one blanket and two pair shoes", three (3) Confederate tax bills on partly-printed "Tax in Kind" forms, a rare 1865 Confederate partly-printed property use form "for the use of the C. S. Government, one wagon & team to hall to Depot…[and] you will furnish rations for two days…". Interesting as a group while providing some detail into the everyday management of a well-to-do-plantation even as the war drew to a close. Overall VG.
