A nice early pair of war-date partly-printed Confederate requisition invoices. First, oblong 1p. 4to., Port Gibson, Miss., May 25, 1861 where the "Fair View Rifles"- purchased from Kiefer & Company numerous checkered shirts and pants. The Fairview Rifles helped form the nucleus of the 16th Mississippiā¦PLUS; oblong 1p. 4to., New Orleans, [La.], July 11, 1861 in which Capt. McKeever, 10th Miss. Infantry, Capt. Hughes, 12th Miss. Infantry and Capt. Moore 16th Miss. Infantry purchased from Marqueze & Company, 68 Canal St., New Orleans, 250 pair pegged brogans for their fresh volunteers with respective shipment to be sent to Pensacola, Union City, Tenn., Corinth, Miss. and Port Gibson, Miss. Nearly two years later, during the battle of Gettysburg, both the 12th and 16th Miss. helped attack Meade's Union army while part of Posey's brigade under the command of Gen. A. P. Hill. Both fine.
