General Orders No. 181, 51p. octavo, War Department, Adjutant General's Office, Washington, November 1, 1862, being "Promotions and appointments in the Army of the United States made by the PRESIDENT". It includes hundreds of promotions for all levels of service including Major and Brigadier Generals. Some of the generals listed are Rosecrans, Kearny with note "since killed in battle", Hooker, Slocum, Sedgwick, Jesse Reno with note "since killed in battle", Philip Sheridan,Gouverneur Warren, and many more. These general orders also contain a 3p. list of officers killed, including General Mansfield, Colonel Irving, Colonel Miles, Major Williams, Major Simmons, Major Plummer, and many others, including the date they died and in which battle.
