Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 2nd Bde/1st Divn/XI Corps at Chancellorsville, Provost Marshal of the Dept of the Ohio, commanded 1st Divn/XXIII Corps in Atlanta campaign, commanded in Kentucky, commanded 3rd Bde/2nd Divn/XXIII Corps in Carolinas campaign, resigned April 1865. A rare war-date partly-printed Union general's D. S. "N. C. McLean" [n. p., n. d.], ca. 1863 special requisition where McLean approves the use of "2 fine horses. For use in spring wagon for Brig. Gen. McLane at Brig. Hd qrs."Folds, else very good.
