Pay voucher for John G. Gregg, who was commissioned into Co. 'F' of the 152nd Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery, promoted to captain of the 188th Pennsylvania Infantry, Wounded-in-Action at Cold Harbor, Virginia, June 1, 1864, and eventually promoted to Colonel on May 1, 1865, two months before he resigned from the service. This 1p. oblong folio, voucher, records a payment of $574 being his pay from January through September 1864, and includes the service of his servant William Anderson who is described as being "dark." Signed twice by Gregg. Government tape repairs, else Good.During September, 1864, in the fierce assaults on Forts Harrison and Gillmer the regiment lost about 60 killed, and 100 wounded.
