WHERRY, William M. (1836-1918), brevet Brigadier General of volunteers in the Union Army. Wherry served as aide-de-camp to General Lyon in 1861 and General Schofield in 1862. He earned brevets for Atlanta, Franklin (TN), Nashville, and the Georgia and Tennessee campaigns, and received a Medal of Honor for Wilson's Creek. Document Signed, "Wm. M. Wherry," on printed special orders, San Francisco, Cal., July 26, 1872 regarding Court Marshalls. Some edge damage, VG.
