CULLUM, George Washington (1809-1892) Union general who as an engineer built Forts Warren, Independence, and Winthrop, ADC to Winfield Scott, 1861. Superintendent West Point 1864-66. Autograph Letter Signed, "Geo. W. Cullum", 1p. octavo, Newport, Rhode Island, September 1, 1886, addressed to the Secretary of the Army of the Cumberland, it reads: "Our Alumni Record for 1886 is just issued, and I have directed Lietu. Brandon, our Secretary, to send you a copy, which contains my Biographical sketch of General Donaldson..." Fine.
