It is part of the marvelous world of optical projection and stands alongside the Camera Obscura, Shadow Shows and the Magic Mirror. Like them the Magic Lantern has been used to educate, entertain and mystify audiences for hundreds of years. HCA is pleased to present the following 35 lots of Magic Lantern Slides. To facilitate to descriptions of the Magic Lantern Slide lots, we will use the following abbreviations: all slides are 4" x 3-1/4" unless otherwise noted, RP = Real Photographic Image, ILL = Illustration Image, COL = Colored Image, B/W = Black & White Image The 54TH Slides, A marvelous set slides of the Mass 54th Regiment. Each slide is identified with period paper label. Col. Robert Gould Shaw 3/4 view in uniform, RP, B/W ... plus ... Bombproof - Fort Wagner clearly showing black soldiers, RP, B/W ... plus Signal Station - Morris Island, again clearly showing Black soldiers, RP, B/W ... plus ...
