Letter, Philadelphia, Dec. 22, 1846, to Jesse Miller, Esq., Secretary of the Commonwealth, 1pp., integral mailing panel, fine. In part, "Capt. Leoser's Company will become ready on Saturday for Philadelphia: and go west on Monday: will any provisions be made for them to reach Pittsburg by the State authorities. I understand the other companies were provided with means of sustance and otherwise assisted .... your official position may perhaps enable you to answer ..." Captain Thomas Leoser led the Reading Artillerists, which mustered in at Pittsburg becoming Company A, 2nd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry.
