is the grim caution on this 6 page accordion-fold leaflet handed out to newly arrived Jewish female immigrants circa 1904 on Ellis Island, New York. 3 x 6 (folded) opens to 6 x 9 ½ with 3 pages each side, alternately printed in English / German and Hebrew. Cover page bold "COUNCIL OF JEWISH WOMEN" with their "1893" seal and "WELCOME!". Offers their greeting to "all Jewish girls and women" and their help, advice and information "in whatever way needed" and advising of women available to help in Boston, Baltimore, Phila. and N.Y. Ellis Island. (Also addresses of the "council" and other important cities of U.S.) Council founded 1893; in 1904 were first organization to serve at Ellis Island assisting girls with problems and protecting them from white slavery, etc. (with Encyclo.
