The sarcastic penned heading of these two large 8 x 11 ½ sheets which comprise the secretary's report for meeting of Sunday Oct. 25, 1908, chaired by Leon J. Obermayer. The opening meeting for the season "…there was not a large attendance but we hope it will increase in the future…glad to observe many of the younger members were taking an interest…. certain children recently admitted to the Y thought it their duty to disturb the meeting… with their horse play… if this continues these children will have to bring their nurses to keep them in order. Paper read on current Jewish topics, a progressive move that should be encouraged…" with details of subjects covered of Jewish interests and government: "the campaign speeches were pleasing orations with introductions to each speaker very clever, with one exception. The speaker for the Republicans resembled the candidate in weight and girth…his speech had great influence in such a Democratic city as Phila. giving Taft a large plurality" [and more about Democratic politics]… "to have a well known anti-Prohibitionist speak for a [pro] prohibition candidate made his remarks meet with ridicule while the Socialist speaker was conspicuous by his silence…best thing of the meeting was the spirit of good fellowship."
