This College-level lecture is presented in five parts, totaling 58pp., on tightly written 9" x 11-1/2" paper, fine. It begins with "Lecture No 1, October 1846," and the encouraging statement "Onward is the watch word of Science." The professor continues in this series of 11 pages with constant reference to early medical discoveries, "In 1816 - Monsieur Laennec made his great discovery of the stethoscope ... department of the Necker Hospital in Paris ..." Then, "... Auenbrugger deduced a set of signs for the diagnosis of the diseases of the lungs - heart ..." ... plus, "II Lecture on Inspection," 4pp. In this section the professor provides practical diagnosis, "In precussing the chest if we find it duller than natural we know that there must be some cause - Nepctiyation(sp) ." ..." ... tremors of the aorta will sometimes produce very great bulging ..." ... plus, "Lecture III," 9 pp., in which the professor introduces, "... applications of the hand ... is meant the act of laying the hand upon the external surface of the chest ..." He continues with both the history and the application of percussion. ... plus, Untitled, "Nov 6, 1846 at 4-1/2 PM," 19pp., on 6-1/2" x 7-1/2," booklet. This appears to be of a speech than a lecture.
