One of the earliest Theodore Roosevelt pieces we have had the pleasure to offer. A large 16"x21-3/4" photograph of the 1883 New York Assembly in Albany. Taken by McDonald & Sterry, Albany, New York. The image shows all 132 members of the New York Assembly. Each has a number below their image which corresponds with their name on the bottom mount. Number 103 is a young 25 year old Theodore Roosevelt in his 3rd year as a New York Assemblyman. TR was in local politics in Albany before he held other more well known political positions, including the Presidency from 1901-1909. These large photographic pieces were given out to the incoming Assemblymen each year. Only one other example of this montage of images with Roosevelt, that being from his 2nd year in the New York Assembly in 1882, sold a few years ago. A great piece in fine condition with some wear and age to the lower mount. It would be extremely difficult to find an earlier TR item.
