Authentic issue of The Connecticut Courant, Hartford, December 17, 1836, 4pp., disbound. From the interior, a 1/2 column report “A Slave Question.” In small part, “ ... Sunday last .. a family of blacks in the neighborhood of Berkley, claimed as slave were arrested upon a warrant of Donahue, a noted slave catcher from Philadelphia. ..About 11:00 o’clock at night the house was attacked by about forty negroes, come to rescue their confined brother....”
