A complete and authentic issue of the Harper’s Weekly, October 15, 1859, 16pp., disbound, VG. From the interior, the centerspread is split with two horizontal engravings. The bottom “A Base-Ball Match At The Elysian Fields, Hoboken,” showing the entire field - very displayable image. The top engraving is “The Cricket Match Played At Hoboken ...” Elysian Fields in Hoboken, New Jersey is believed to be the site of the first organized baseball game, giving Hoboken a strong claim to be the birthplace of baseball.
