Enormous 46” x 34”, printed on heavy paper and on both sides, 1942, US Government Printing Office. Minor occasional edge tears, still very attractive printed in green, orange, and black. Top half of front shows the fronts on each continent for the week of September 14, 1942. Very dramatic commentary, “US Subs Sink 5 Jap Ships” ... “US Troops Occupy Panama” ... Below the fold the poster prints images and large font text under the headline “The War Fronts” detailing 10 war fronts. the reverse has images and explanations of the different types of maps. From 1942-46, the U.S. Army published "newsmaps" to keep American troops updated on the war. These weekly posters were distributed and posted in every American installation in the world and were intentionally more visual than descriptive to help engage and motivate personnel.
