A huge hoard of West Virginia ephemera dating from the 1840's to 20th century. Housed in three large boxes are thousands of pieces. We have noted Civil War era letters, newspapers dating from the 1840's to the 1960's many epic WWII headlines, bill heads, receipts, maps, turn of the century illustrated calendars and various family photographs. Too numerous to mention are the contents of a Depression era postmaster's record keeping files. In a cursory search we found early West Virginia (ca. 1940's) road maps, travel guides; 19th century Victorian era die-cut friendship cards; ca. 1910 postcard album filled with cards; advertising premiums and merchant coupons; WWII ration books and like material; greeting cards; early deeds and probate documents. A sure money maker for the astute collector who is lucky enough to win this lot and no doubt will discover many more unmentioned treasures. Varying condition. FOUR large boxes (18”x15”x12”).
