Autograph Letter Signed "M. Anna Jackson" 2p. Octavo, Cottage Home, North Carolina, June 29, 1868, with mourning bordered cover addressed to Miss Sue Anderson at Davidson College, N.C., this letter reads in part: "...Your kind note to Laura [possibly Stonewall's sister Laura Ann (Jackson) Arnold] has been received & as she is absent from home, I take pleasure in thanking you & your parents in her name & my own for your kind invitation to stay with you during Commencement. It will give us great pleasure to do so, if we attend, & I presume we both will. Laura certainly expects to go & I will feel much tempted to hear my brothers speak again & also to hear Dr. Dalney...Little Julia [Stonewall's only surviving child] is quiet ecstatic at the idea of going to Commencement! She will be delighted at seeing the children at your house & indeed I know we shall all have a pleasant time…" Some light soiling, else VG. Letters of Mary Anna Jackson are rare. Born May Anna Morrison, Mrs. Thomas J. Jackson was a North Carolinian whose father, a Presbyterian minister, was the founder and first president of Davidson College.
