Collection of Confederate related items related to 1st Lt. Abner Newton Steele, Co. G, 11th Alabama who was killed during General Longstreet's assault upon the Union position at the battle of Glendale on June 30, 1862. Included in the group are three (3) postal transmittal covers, nearly all addressed to his wife and docketed, "A. N. Steele, 1st Lt., Co. "G", 11th Reg. Ala. Vol." with manuscript and bold printed "DUE 10" post marks…PLUS; partly-printed, oblong, 12mo. partly-printed Masonic membership receipt, Montgomery, Ala., Dec. 5, 1859 acknowledging Steele's annual contribution to his local lodge…PLUS, a 2pp. 8vo., letter, entitled: "A Market" written by Charles Lee Steele on his concerns of the South's "very poor markets."
