The Confederate Government officially recognizes the resignation and loss of military officers at the end of the war in 1865, 10pp. 8vo., in paper wraps, being General Orders being G. O. No. 9, "Adjutant and Inspector General's Office, Richmond, [Va.], March 9, 1865," listing "the resignations" of many important Confederate officers including Col. James Lucius Davis 10th Virginia Cavalry WIA/POW Gettysburg, July 3, 1863 and again POW Hagerstown, MD., July 6, 1863 who was confined Point Lookout and Johnson's Island. Along with Captain Thomas S. Green of the 28th North Carolina who was twice wounded, once at Chancellorsville and again at Reams Station, Va. Contained in the list are hundreds of names of important Confederate officers who could not longer serve, willingly or unwillingly, serve their cause. Overall near fine.
