Large, 10" x 8" mounted albumen photo of a dozen Confederate veterans men in formation putting on a mock gun drill with an old 12 pound Napoleon Howitzer in front of the Macon Volunteers Armory building. These men were members of the Jackson Artillery, Massenburg's Battery, Georgia Light Artillery. The armory archway behind them is a remarkable monument to the Confederacy Above the arch are busts of R.E. Lee and Jefferson Davis. This battery was organized September 18, 1861 in Savannah for six months' service, but served throughout the war. ... plus, this image is published in the soft cover book, "Georgia's Confederate Monuments and Cemeteries" on page 124. The book is sold with the image.
