A framed broadside, 8-1/2" x 10", (sight, not examined out of the frame). The broadside is promoting an address by Rev. Frederick Starr, Jr. regarding "On the present state of the War and the call of the present of the United States for 300,000 Soldiers to Volunteer before the 5th day of January, 1864." The broadside encourages the citizens to "Turn Out! Turn Out! All persons enrolled for the Draft, in the first or second Class are especially invited ." Rev. Frederick Starr, Jr. was renowned abolitionist and was forced to flee his Weston Missouri home in 1855. At the time of this broadside, Starr was the pastor of the Presbyterian church in Penn Yan, New York.
