STEVENSON, Carter L. (1817 - 1888) Confederate major general who led with distinction at Cumberland Gap, later captured at Vicksburg, exchanged, and again led his forces from Missionary Ridge to Bentonville. War-date Autograph Letter Signed "C.L. Stevenson" 1p. 8vo., datelined Camp Jeff. Davis, Sept. 25, [n.y.], to Capt. Samuel G. French, ordering letterhead and adding: "I will furnish requisitions for the above...". Penned boldly on blue letterhead, a bit of bleaching at middle and bottom margin, else very good.
