JOSEPH PLATT COOKE (1730-1816) American officer in the Revolutionary War, a Connecticut politician, and a two-time delegate to the Congress of the Confederation. During the Revolutionary War, Cooke accompanied General Wolcott to New York and also hosted George Washington, the Comte de Rochambeau, and the Marquis de la Fayette at his home. Partially Printed Certificate of Exchange Signed, "Joseph P. Cooke." One page, 7 5/8" x 4 ½", November 7, 1779 . The document reads: "RECEIVED of JOHN LAWRENCE, Commissioner of the Loan Office for the State of Connecticut, one hundred forty six dollars & five-sixths of a dollar it being interest arisen on two Continental Certificates, in favour of Mr. Amos Cooke..." Choice condition.
