Slave document dated January 25, 1842 from Horry County, South Carolina. Peter Vaught Sr. (ca 1784-1867) made trustee over plantation land and a negro girl slave named Flora - owned by John Dunn of Horry County."Whereas the said John Dunn… do hereby make over and convey to Peter Vaught as trustee to my wife Martha Dunn & her children now living with her… all my plantation of tract of land where I now live situated on Little River Swamp in the said district and contains about 185 acres… also one other tract… across on Little River Swamp known as the Mill Place… there on also all my rights, title, and interest to a negro girl slave by the name of Flora, her increase, with all my household and kitchen furniture plantation tools. Also one horse and riding cart with all my stock of hogs, cattle, and sheep… I do hereby make over to the said Peter in trust for the only proper use and behalf of the said Martha Dunn & her children…."Peter Vaught Sr. served in the South Carolina legislature and as Sheriff of Horry County. His son Peter Jr. (1824-1897) owned a 4,100 acre plantation near Myrtle Beach..
