Framed Broadside, 7-1/4" x 9-1/2" (sight) titled "Grand Military Ball, The pleasure of your company is respectfully solicited at a ball to be given at Camp Carondelet, near Manassas, Tuesday evening, February 25th, 1862." Richmond. Dispatch Steam Presses. The broadside lists the managers which include Major General Kirby Smith, Brigadier Generals Elzey, Richard Taylor and Trimble, and continues with the names/rank of another +/- 200 officers. The period illustration adds flavor.Camp Carondelet. This wooded park is the site of one of numerous Confederate winter camps established in late 1861. Here Louisiana troops enlivened their stay by holding a "Grand Military Ball" on February 25, 1862.
