William Henry Tibbs (1816-1906), Following the state's ordinance of secession and the outbreak of the Civil War, he was a delegate from his East Tennessee district in the First Confederate Congress from 1862-64. Autograph Letter Signed "W.H. Tibbs" 2pp., nd, from the "House of Rep, Richmond VA." In small part, "I am informed by Cap. Brown that he has not been able to collect the money for the neggers and stock furnished by myself and Captain Brown. Sir, I do hope that you will have this money paid at once - as my reputation ... is at stake. ..."
