Autograph Letter Signed (Dr.) John H(oward) Furman" one page, self-covering with "paid 5" and faint CDS Milledgeville Ga., Mar 15." The letter is written to his sister and Mother, March 14, 1862. The top half is to his sister Katy with family content. The second half to his Mother has great content. In large part, "There is nothing new here, we are very anxious about the state of the country, we were rejoiced to hear of the Naval victory in Hampton Roads, and glad Price has been promoted, and saddened by the death of McColloch and General McIntosh. I find that you agree with me in opinion about Gov. Brown and Gen. Price, Davis is asleep, but if he don't get someone to wake him up, by the time that he does wake he will be in the worst fix he ever was. ..."
