Rare Union general's signed document signed by Brevet Major General John W. Geary (1819-1873), as colonel of the 28th Pennsylvania, 4to., 1p., "Hd. Qrs. 28th Regt. P. V., Camp Tyndale, Point of Rocks, Maryland, Oct. 19, 1861", reading, in part: "In accordance with orders of Genl. Banks the arms & accouterments now in possession of the army at Frederick City, Md. delivered by Capt. Devins, Lignor Guards [Linganore Mounted Guards] shall be delivered to Capt. George F. McCabe…".Two attached slips show that was turned was, "by Cap. Charles Beavans of the Linganore Mounted Guards, Viz. 20 brace of single caval (sic) pistoles, 39 holsters, 39 sabours with belts and 4 body belts." Overall VG.
