DEKAY, Drake (1836-1886), aide-de-camp to General Joseph K.F. Mansfield, was commissioned 1st Lieutenant 14th Infantry on May 14, 1861. By 1864, he had received promotions to captain, major and lieutenant colonel for gallant and meritorious service at the battles of the Wilderness and Spotsylvania.Two documents signed "Drake DeKay" to include; December 31, 1862 approving a Furlough for Royal Bates ... plus, Feb. 7, 1863, approving a Furlough for James Dack.
