Group of Antietam Casualty Maryland Soldier's Documents. Includes a pair Union Eagle discharge documents for Private Thomas Smith who enlisted on 9/12/1861 as a Sergeant, and on 9/12/1861 he mustered into "G" Co. MD 5th Infantry. Smith was wounded 9/17/1862 Antietam, MDOne signed by Five Forks, Va., casualty, Solomon S. Thompson as commander of Company C, 5th Maryland. Thompson, on 9/13/1861, mustered into "B" Co. MD 5th Infantry. He was wounded 10/27/1864 Fair Oaks, VA. The discharge is dated September 1, 1865. ... plus, Discharge Fort Delaware December 31, 1863 and signed by W(illia)m Louis Schley, Col. 5th Reg. who enlisted on 9/4/1861 as a Colonel. and was commissioned into Field & Staff MD 5th Infantry . He Resigned on 10/6/1864. ... plus, Smith's Sergeant's promotion certificate, August 35, 1865 to 2nd Sergeant signed by Antietam casualty, W(illiam) W. Bamberger as colonel of the 5th Maryland. Bamberger enlisted on 10/9/1861 as a Captain and, on 10/9/1861, was commissioned into "B" Co. MD 5th Infantry and was wounded 9/17/1862 Antietam, MD.
