Civilian letter written by W(illiam) R(ussell) Dunham and again signed with only initials, includes original cover written to Cousin William S. Barrows, 3pp., May 31/63. After advising of his gardening - nineteen kinds of fruit - and of the mosquitoes he shows anxiety regarding the possible invasion from the South. In part, "I think, I suppose we shall meet on the banks of the Potomac with bayonets set, according to the present indications of army requirements. What are you going to do? Fight or Travel? Mary Ann wants to have drafts She thinks it will be a fine thing. What do you say? ..." Interestingly the writer has cut out an engraved image of Fremont and glued it to the letter..
