US Grant Approves The New Rate For Money Orders

Handsome large CIRCULAR, 15-1/2' x 12-1/2" issued at City Point Va. February 20, 1865. In part, "The Post Master General has designated City Point Post Office A Money Order Office so as to extend to the Armies operating against Richmond, the privileges of the Postal Money Order System" He then displays the rates, and continues, "Thirty dollars is the limit of a single order ... These orders must be sent in an envelope by them selves ... will not carry any information whatsoever, so that if the order should fall into the wrong hands, it will impossible for it to be collected .... Approved By Command of Lieut. General Grant..."
