Annual Register... for the Year 1759, 504pp., handsomely rebound covers, interior VG. The section "The History of the Present War" includes several articles on the Campaigns in North America, including battles at Ticongeroga, Crown Point and Quebec. Also, the death of General Wolfe, made famous by the Benjamin West painting. "... but just in the moment when the fortune of the field began to declare itself, General Wolfe, in whole life everything seemed included, fell; General Monkton, the next to him in command, fell immediately after ... the circumstances that attended the death of such a person are too interesting to be passed over in silence ... He first received a wound in the head, but not to discourage his troops, he wrapped it in his handerkerchief ... soon he received a ball in his belly, this he also dissembled and exerted himself as before; when he received a third in his breast, under which he at last sunk, and suffered himself to be carried behind the ranks."
