Photograph, Identified in the negative, "Co "C" Of The Provisional Tank Bn. Third Army Division, April 1948, Fort Knox, Kentucky. Taken Des Moines, Ia. Woltz Studios, Two pages of photos taped together, each page 9" x 12-1/". Light wear to lower edge, old tape loosening. Very good. A two-page photo roster of the 150 members of the segregated Provisional Tank Battalion 3rd Armored Group,. On July 26, 1948 (3 months after this photo), President Harry Truman signed Executive Order 9981, creating the President's Committee on Equality of Treatment and Opportunity in the Armed Services. The order mandated the desegregation of the U.S. military.
