Union soldier's self covering 2pp. letter written by William H. Clark who enlisted on 8/14/1862 at Henderson, KY as a Private and on 9/13/1862 he mustered into "L" Co. KY 8th Cavalry. He deserted on 11/6/1862 at Summer's Store, KY. Datelind, Prison Mess 14, Aug. 27, 1862 and addressed to Harvey Worley Exq., Prison No.2, Gen. Dashe's Mess. In part, "Johnny informed me that you were anxious to come into our prison so I've saved a place in my mess having reserved half a bunk for you ... We understand that yesterday you were terribly crowded ... the prison clerk is now in our prison taking down evidence for Mr. Hitchcock who will be here tomorrow to investigate our cases ... those charged with heavy crimes against the government will probably ... remain until the end of the war ..."Harvey Worley enlisted on 11/12/1863 at Camp Burnside, KY as a Private and on 4/5/1864 he mustered into "D" Co. KY 30th Infantry, Harvey Worley was discharged on 12/6/1864 at Lexington, KY
