Lot of 2 cartoons spoofing the un-soldiery activities of a Captain Bradley, 5th New York, during action at Yorktown, Virginia, April - May, 1862. Bradley is portrayed as a drunken buffoon. Records indicate that a Captain Joseph H. Bradley of Co. "G', 5th New York infantry was dismissed from the service on July 22, 1862. Perhaps the incident portrayed here and the documented dismissal are related. Cartoon, 8" x 9 1/2", 1862, Yorktown, Virginia. Bradley is shown riding in a baggage wagon with bottle and glass before being shot down in a subsequent scene. A caption above reads: "Ye melancholy incident at ye famous capture of ye City of Yorktown in ye cruel War for ye Union of ye United States of amerika A.D. 1862". Stains, else Fine condition...Plus; Cartoon, 4" x 4 1/2", 1862, Yorktown, Virginia. Here Bradley is smoking a long clay pipe above a caption reading, "Portrait of the lamented Capt.
