He was listed as POW (date and place not stated) and exchanged 9/21/1862 Aiken's Landing, VA. Pierson was promoted several time; Major 7/20/1861, Lt Colonel 9/10/1861, Colonel 10/9/1862, Brig-General 3/13/1865 by Brevet.
