The letter, 8pp. 8vo., on American flag embossed patriotic stationery, is written by Major Charles Warren of the 11th Connecticut Volunteers who was at the time a first sergeant in Co. B of the 11th. Here Warren gives us a very detailed account that is sometimes a bit comical, of his experiences in the North Carolina countryside when he is tasked with taking a squad of men to help reinforce the skittish Union picket guard stationed at Evan's Mill on Brice's Creek south of the city of New Bern.
