Henry Shaw Briggs (1824-1887) was brigadier general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. After suffering serious wounds during the Battle of Fair Oaks in 1862, Briggs was promoted to brigadier general and served primarily administrative commands in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Alexandria, Virginia.
