Documentary Photo Aids was an educational supplier of reproduction photographs covering various periods of American history. Each professional photo has a printed caption describing the image. Additionally, when bought in topic groups, DPA would include a Teacher’s Guide providing the history of that period. These are 14” x 11”, c1960-1970.. Unlikely they could be used in public schools today. Goup of SIX extraordinary photos: Photo of the Declaration Draft which condems slavery and denounces George II for allowing it in the Colonies. That paragraph in part, ““He has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating its most sacred rights of life and liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating and carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere, or to incur miserable death in their transportation hither. … Determined to keep open market where MEN should be bought and sold ... , plus, Photo of “Am I Not A Man And A Brother”, the bended knee chained slave image first used by the American Anti-Slavery organization. Below it is John Greenleaf Whittier’s poem, “My Countrymen In Chains”. ... plus, Photo of a schematic slave ship showing the position of 609 slaves aboard the ship Brookes. ... plus, Photo of a New Orleans, 1835, newspaper ad announcing the arrival of a slave ship and the sale of ten slaves with description. ... plus, Another photo of a newspaper ad, 1784, Negroes For Sale as another slave ship arrives in the harbor. Thirty Seasoned Negroes”. ... plus, Photo of a “Slave Indenture” document, Delaware, 1841, placing the 10 year old girl Rachel into servatude (ie: slavery).
