Documentary Photo Aids was an educational supplier of reproduction photographs covering various periods of American history. Each professional photo has a printed caption describing the image. Additionally, when bought in topic groups, DPA would include a Teacher’s Guide providing the history of that period. These are 14” x 11”, c1960-1970.. Unlikely they could be used in public schools today.This is a group of Three Photos of period engraved images regarding slavery. The first photo shows Henry ‘Box’ Brown, a slave who shipped himself, via Adams Express, from Richmond Va. to Philadelphia Pa., a 26 hour trip in a woodeb box. ...plus, This photo shows a 1856 political cartoon, “Forcing Slavery Down the Throat of a Free Soiler,” by John Magee, shows the Democratic platform of expanding slavery into new western territories. Central America, Cuba and KANAS. ..., plus a photo of a Thomas Nast cartoon, "This is a white man's government. We regard the Reconstruction Acts (so called) of Congress as usurpations, and unconstitutional, revolutionary, and void". It shows the ‘5 points New Yorker’s vote’ the CSA ‘lost cause’ and the wealthy capitolist ... all standing on the black man on the ground. In the background is the Colored Orphanage burning.
