It aimed to protect the civil rights of African Americans by guaranteeing equal access to public accommodations and transportation. Its Key Provisions included; Prohibited discrimination in public places like hotels, restaurants, theaters, and transportation, Ensured equal opportunities for African Americans to serve on juries, It intended to enforce the 14th and 15th Amendments, which granted citizenship and voting rights to African Americans, .... In 1883, the Supreme Court ruled in the Civil Rights Cases that the public accommodations sections of the act were unconstitutional, arguing that Congress lacked the authority to regulate private businesses under the 14th Amendment.
