Union soldier’s 4pp letter, with original cover, written by Isaac N. Halderman who, on 8/26/1862 mustered into F Company Iowa 22, infantry. He was listed as a POW, 10/19/1864 Cedar Creek Va and mustered out 7/12/1865 Davenport Iowa.Datelined; Campp 22nd Iowa, Matagorda Bay, Texas, December 22, 1863, to his sister. In part, ‘ Your opinion of the War is my sentiments ... that the Hand of God is plainly visibl ... when we have seen fighting against superior numbers that victory showed so often .. be given us. Of the result I have not the least doubt, but when we have suffered enough for our National wickedness, then we will have peace ... The remarks of Mr. Morris in regard to the war is certainly very good and appropriate. I tell you Min, I believe you are considerably struck with that fellow because you have often spoken of him ....”
