Union soldier’s 3pp. letter written George Wheeler who mustered into "G" Co. Iowa 5th Infantry, 12/23/1863 and mustered Out on 8/11/1865 at Nashville, TN. The letter is written to Friend Steven, Camo of the 5th Iowa Cav., near Nashville Tenn. In part, “We left this place for Louisville the 27th of Oct, then we drew losses & started back ... In arriving in camp I found eleven letters and twenty newspapers. ... We are to draw arms in the morning will have the Saber, Spencer Carbine and no revolvers. The carbine is a seven shooter & I do not want a revolver. ....”
