An intriguing by Union rocketeer's letter written by Pvt. Penuel Borst while acting as wagoner in Battery, A, New York Rocket Battalion, 4pp. 8vo., written on "Majestic Monarch of the Cloud Defends The Banner of the Free" patriotic stationery, [n. p., but Albany, NY., Jan. 22, 1862] to his friend Mary, reading, in part: " Well Mary, I suppose you are having good times - but old Pen. hant their this winter - perhaps I will be thair before long - that wont do for then Susa will not like me but I don't care much then I will have some of those darkes galls here - you must not get married until I get home for I want to skinard [?] you. When I get home then I will go to see the galls to. I guess I must go out to Longs and see Tilt but I guess she cant go- I must stop my writing and clean my clothes or the major [Thomas W. Lion] will put me in the guard house and that will not do for I would lick him. He was mad the other day and was going to put me in for telling him that he had nothing to do with the horses and the captain [Alfred Ransom] came up - and told him that [he would] run his sword threw him if he did not mind his business and [the major] then left here and has not been here since - Penuel Borst."
