Union soldier’s 4pp. pencil letter to his mother, written by Lemuel Fuller, who enlisted on 8/9/1862 as a Private into "F" Co. Illinois 74th Infantry and was Mustered Out on 6/10/1865 at Nashville, TN. the letter is written on patriotic stationery with Father Abraham poem. Datelined, Sunday Morning Oct 26 (1862). In part, “The snow fell last evening, a depth of 4 inches ... We have not had a tent since we left Rockford. We make our bed the best we can. We built a kind of shed last night. We came to Danville Friday. ... for all the clothing .. they have is on their backs .. 25 of us have no blankets. ... Monday we started for Lebanon, passed through it and camped 7 miles from town. ...”
