Manuscript Medical Certificate, 9-1/2” x 7-1/2”, issued for Lieutenant Teneyck Howland who on 8/23/1862, was mustered into "G" Co. New York 121st Infantry. He was listed as wounded 10/19/1864 Cedar Creek, VA.; and later listed as Killed in Acrion on 4/6/1865 at Sailor's Creek, Va. Datelined, South Valley NY., Dec. 9th, 1864 and signed by “D.N. Walker, MD.” In part, “I hereby certify that I have carefully examined this officer + find that he is suffering from a gun shot wound rec’d in the thigh at the battle of Cedar Run and has been suffering since the 19th of October ... unfit for duty + not able to travel ... period twenty days from this date ....”
